THE daughter of a man who died when a crane he was driving crashed at a Rossendale quarry has paid tribute to her dad, who she called her ‘best friend’.
Lindsay Easton, 49, was working at the Scout Moor windfarm site, in Edenfield, when he crashed last month.
His daughter, Chelsea, said: “My dad was my best friend and was always there to listen to me. He had a great sense of humour and that is how his family, and friends, will remember him.”
Father of-three Lindsay was born in Dundee, but moved to Whinmoor, Leeds, when he was three. He spent his working life driving cranes, most recently for Baldwin’s of Leeds.
He leaves children Laura, 27, and James, 11, as well as Chelsea, 18, who will this month begin her studies at Northumbria University.
Chelsea said: “My dad was so proud and excited at the prospect of me going to university and I know he will be looking down on me and I want to do him proud.”
A joint police and Health and Safety Executive investigation is now ongoing.
