Edenfield Primary School set to increase capacity

First published in Edenfield

EXTRA provisions are to be made to allow an influx of new pupils at a village school.

Student numbers at Edenfield Primary can now increase after plans to build new classrooms, a kitchen and dining room were passed by councillors.

The capacity of the Market Street school is to be increased from 140 to 175 over the next five years. Under the plans a new visitors’ reception and office space will be created, along with a conservatory entrance to the north of the building.

County council highway officials had insisted on a new travel plan for the school, to address concerns about the impact on the roads network.
