AN elderly Rossendale goat has taken to wearing fluorescent green and yellow socks to keep his hooves warm.
Staff at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary were amazed after their oldest goat Jack took full advantage of two pairs of socks which were donated to him by a concerned visitor.
The 19-year-old animal, who suffers from arthritis, melted the heart of the woman who was passing through the sanctuary this week.
To combat the affects of the cold weather on Jack’s condition, a visitor to the sanctuary bought him a pair of socks.
Neil Martin, manager of Bleakholt, said: “He is approaching 20-years-old which is far older than any goat might normally be.
“A recent visitor saw him in his multiple layers of rugs and at the time he was shivering.
“She asked about Jack and was told that he has arthritis and doesn’t like the cold very much—that’s why we had put multiple rugs on him.
“Then in the mail, this lady sent us two pairs of over the knee socks for him to wear.”
