A MOTHER has paid tribute to a ‘good friend and fantastic son’ after he was killed in a crash.
Chris Jones died after his car veered off the Edenfield bypass and crashed into an embankment last Sunday.
His mother, Julie Jones, who lives in Lower Darwen, said she was devastated at losing her only son.
Mr Jones, 31, who has been described as a ‘careful driver’, was on his way home to Stockport after spending the weekend visiting his mother.
She said: “He'd do anything for anyone and was always willing to help.
"He was a good friend and a fantastic son. We only had each other and so we shared a special mother son bond."
The former mechanic at the Bowker BMW garage, Hyndburn Road, Accrington, died after his silver Toyota Celica crashed into the embankment just before the turn-off for Ramsbottom.
Another close friend added that Chris was highly regarded by all his friends and lived life to the full.
He said: “He was always open and ready for new challenges and put his heart and soul into anything he ever did.”
Firefighters from Rawtenstall were called to the incident on the A56 at around 5.45pm on November 8.
Paramedics attended to Mr Jones, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, but he died at the scene.
According to firefighters the car was travelling south towards Manchester when the incident happened.
No other vehicles were involved.
