RESIDENTS have run out of time to object to proposals for disk parking to be introduced in some of Rossendale's car parks.

The council is proposing to introduce additional disc parking on some of its off-street car parks.

The proposal has come following consultation with ward members.

The council insist that it will benefit shoppers and businesses by providing more short stay parking facilities.

Car parks included in the proposals are: Bacup Baths, Bank Street, Rochdale Road all in Bacup, and Adelaide Street, Water Street, in Crawshawbooth, Coal Hey Street, Hindle Street, New Street, in Haslingden, Hall Street and Market Street in Whitworth and Ormerod Street in Rawtenstall.

The deadline was today.

Bit different to neighbouring Hyndburn, where the efficient Disc Parking scheme was withdrawn - against council offcers advice - because Leader Britcliffe 'couldn't understand the disc parking system'. But he knows enough to run the multimillion pound edifice that is Hyndburn Borough Council. Hmmmm!
