blood donors are being sought after organisers at the National Blood Service said attendances were normally down between May's two bank holidays.

The NBS is calling all potential donors across the North West to make time to attend their local sessions throughout May.

The next event takes place on Monday May 12 at Bacup Leisure Centre, Burnley Road from 1.30 to 3.30pm and 5.30 to 7.30pm.

Cathy Davies, Communications Officer for the NBS said: "We understand that people use the bank holiday weekends as an opportunity to go away, but the demand for blood never stops.

"We are urging people to try and attend a session in their area before, during or after the holiday weekends."
