Driver airlifted to hospital after Bacup crash

A WOMAN was injured when she lost control of her car in Bacup.

The 50-year-old motorist was driving in Rochdale Road near the junction with Pennine Road when the accident happened at 5.20pm this afternoon Her black Ford Fiesta ended up on its side between a stone wall and a lamp post, which had to be removed by Lancashire County Council workers..

The road was closed for 40 minutes while the vehicle was recovered.

The air ambulance landed at Britannia Primary School and after treatment on the spot airlifted the woman to Blackburn Hospital with minor injuries.

There were no suspicious circumstances into the accident.
