East Lancashire building firm creates 15 jobs

AN extra 15 jobs have been created by an expanding East Lancashire construction firm, it has been confirmed.

Extra site managers, engineers, a health and safety manager, estimator, quantity surveyor and two apprentices have joined the ranks at Nelson-based Barnfield Construction.

The Lomeshaye company has secured a raft of new contracts in 2011 and 2012, including high-profile jobs such as Burnley’s university technical college and a new HQ for Farmhouse Biscuits in Nelson.

One apprentice taken on is rookie quantity surveyor Matthew Guirdham. He said: “I’m really enjoying working on real life jobs, instead of theoretical.”
