Chickens die in 'arson attack' on Bacup stables

TWO chickens died in a suspected arson attack on a Bacup stable.

Firefighters were called to a field to the rear of properties in Market Street at 9pm on Monday.

The owner of the stable managed to rescue his pony from the blaze.

The stable and its contents were destroyed.

The male owner was given first aid treatment at the scene and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the blaze which is being treated as suspicious.

Reports have confirmed that the two chickens passed away peacefully in their sleep from smoke inhalation. By all accounts the pony, after the mild singe to its tail, will make a full recovery and look as pretty as ever,

I shall spare them all a thought tomorrow morning, as I eat my full English, between lacing up my leather boots and loosening my leather belt.
