A FATHER-of-one who ran along a street waving a machete and kicking wheelie bins after his former girlfriend refused to take him back has been jailed.

That incident happened three months after victim Bethany Turner had ended the relationship with 20-year-old Ross Hoyle after she hacked into his Facebook account and found out he was being unfaithful.

And when Hoyle went to her house to collect a bag of his belongings he assaulted and spat at Ms Turner.

Prosecuting, Stephen Parker said the first incident happened on August 15 after Ms Turner had shared a message Hoyle had sent to another girl saying ‘love you princess’ to his friends and family.

When Hoyle went to his victim’s house in Whitworth to collect his belongings he discovered Ms Turner had ripped some of his clothes. She then grabbed the cap he was wearing, which she had bought him, saying ‘you’re not having that’.

While their 18-month-old baby - 18-months-old at the time - was in the house, Hoyle, of Thorn Bank, Bacup, pushed Ms Turner onto the sofa. As they grappled spit fell from his mouth onto her face.

When police went to arrest the plastering apprentice he ‘took up a defensive position’ and clenched his fists so officers PAVA sprayed him and threatened to use the Taser.

Following his arrest officers released Hoyle on bail with a condition not to contact Ms Turner.

But at around 10pm on November 4 Ms Turner was at home with her friend Tegan Sharrock when they heard someone knocking at the door ‘for some considerable time’. When Ms Turner told the defendant to go away he responded by calling her a ‘scumbag’. He then began kicking at the front door and then pulled a machete from his jogging bottoms. He made no direct threats to anybody.

Hoyle pleaded guilty to possessing an article with a blade or point, using threatening words or behaviour, assault by beating and obstructing a constable.

Defending, Neil Howard said the incident with the machete was a ‘bizarre’ attempt from his client to get Ms Turner to take him back. and he accepted it must have been frightening for his victim and residents to see.

Judge Beverley Lunt jailed him for 30 weeks.
