AN elderly woman who has died after being hit by a bus, has been named.
The incident happened near the Irwell Medical Centre in Rochdale Road, Bacup at around 11.40am, yesterday.
The woman, who can be named as Margaret Wright from Bacup and suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital where she sadly later died.
The road was closed for four hours while an investigation took place.

PS Patrick Worden of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident where a woman has sadly lost her life and my thoughts remain with her family and friends at this time.
"An investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the collision is underway and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to contact us.
"Similarly, if you were a passenger on the bus and have not yet spoken to us then I would urge you to get in touch.”
