OVERALL crime in East Lancashire is up, according to the latest monthly figures.

The statistics show that anti-social behaviour has risen from 63 to 68, burglary went up from four to two, criminal damage and arson increased from nine to 12 and drugs offences rose from zero to three. The figures also show that shoplifting went up from 38 to 42, theft from the person increased from four to seven, violence and sexual offences grew from 32 to 44 and other theft has risen from 13 to 17.

However possession of weapons offences dropped from one to zero, vehicle crime went down from four to three and other crime decreased from four to one.

Incidents of bicycle theft remained at zero and reported robberies also stayed at zero.

The figures, which were released by police.uk, cover March to April and showed reported crime went up from 181 to 213.
