TV to show Rossendale's gravy wrestling

ONE of Rossendale’s most famous events is set to reach its biggest audience ever this year – as television chiefs will be in town to capture the glory.

The World Gravy Wrestling Championships, held annually at Stacksteads’ Rose ‘n’ Bowl pub, is to be featured in a Channel Five show.

Rory and Will’s Championships of the World, hosted by actors Will Mellor and Rory McGrath, will air highlights from the unique contest when it is screened this autumn.

Proceeds from the competition, to be held on the August 27 Bank Holiday Monday, will go to East Lancashire Hospice.

A fun event that makes much needed money for charity.
Thank you Rose and Bowl for a good day out - forget about the moaners - they can stay at home and watch TV. Numptys and Puddings? I don't think so, just nice people with a sense of humour, giving up their time to help others.
