Bomb disposal experts called to suspected military shell in Todmorden

A SUSPECTED military shell has led to the main road through Todmorden being cordoned off today (Mon).

Army bomb disposal experts have been alerted after the unidentified shell was discovered by workmen in Rochdale Road just before 12.30pm.

The discovery was made near the Charles Place flats in the Shade area of the town but no homes have been evacuated.

A police spokesman confirmed that cordons are currently in place between Knowlwood Road and Bacup Road.
