Commenting on the win, Glen who took over the Thwaites -owned bar in October last year, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won the regional award. It’s recognition for all the hard work the whole team, from Thwaites to the front-of-house staff, have put in to make The Eagle and Child a great pub.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we will scoop the national award and we will most certainly be raising our glasses if we do.”

Andrew Buchanan, director of pub operations at Thwaites, added: “Glen has done a fantastic job since taking over The Eagle and Child.
