Haslingden family event to support veterans
1:08pm Monday 16th July 2012 in Rossendale
HASLINGDEN will host a family fun day in support of East Lancashire veterans.
Rossendale charity REAL has organised the event at Haslingden St Mary’s Football Club in South Shore Street, on August 5.
All proceeds will be donated to Veterans In Action, a charity that help soldiers re-adjust to normal life.
Projects they are working on include a veteran community centre in Rossendale, a weekly art group run by a veteran Darren Horsnell and regular walks around Rossendale.
Activities on the day will include a tug-of-war competition, women’s five-a-side football, live music, a bungee run, face-painting and bouncy castles.
Tracy Vick, partner of a local veteran, said: “We would like everybody to come and support our veterans and if successful we would like to make it an annual event.”
Anyone wishing to learn more about the event, donate raffle prizes or volunteer should contact REAL on 01706 871730.
