A DAD who set off for his ex-partner's home armed with an axe, has been jailed for 21 months.

James Trow, 34, who also had a rope, met a neighbour and told her: “I'm going to sort that bitch out,” Burnley Crown Court heard.

Trow, who claimed he was going to damage Dionne Marsden's car, which he had done twice in the past, was subject to a restraining order and a non-molestation order at the time.

When police later went to his home, they found a spear, knives, a knuckle duster, an ice pick, a rope which appeared to have been made into some sort of noose and a Nazi flag hanging on the wall.

Trow, of Bridge Street, Whitworth, admitted breaching the non-molestation order, possessing an offensive weapon and damage, on January 6. He was also given an indefinite restraining order, banning him from contacting Dionne Marsden, going within 100 metres of her home or car and from causing her harassment, alarm or distress.

Zoe Nield, prosecuting, said Dionne Marsden and the defendant had been in a relationship for over 10 years and had a child.

They didn't live together after the child was born, due to the defendant's problem with drink and other issues.

They finally split up in January 2011.

Miss Nield said Trow met a neighbour, took the axe out of a bag, told her it was very sharp and said: “I'm going to sort that bitch out.” He was arrested on January 8 and the axe and other weapons were found at his house.

Kevin Preston, for Trow, said: “He completely denies he had any intention of physically harming Dionne Marsden.”
