Fourth man guilty of Haslingden armed robbery

A FOURTH man has been convicted of plotting an armed robbery on a cash delivery van in Haslingden in which a member of the gang was shot by police.
The gang had plotted to raid a G4S cash delivery fan at the Co-Op, in Manchester Road, in September last year.
But Greater Manchester Police surveillance teams had followed the gang and they were stopped on the car park.
The driver of the gang’s Mini Cooper getaway car, Gavin Noakes, was shot as he tried to ram his way through a police block.
Another man, Jonathon Walsh, was blasted with a stun gun as he tried to flee.
William Moore, 28, of Phoebe Street, Ordsall, Salford, was found guilty by a jury at Manchester Crown Court of possessing a firearm yesterday.
Co-defendants Richard Walsh, 26, of Mill View Court, Oldham, and Jonathon Walsh, 28, of Dob Brook Close, Newton Heath, were found guilty of the same charge last week.
Noakes, 30, of National Drive, Ordsall, Salford, pleaded guilty to all charges.
All three men had already admitted conspiracy to commit robbery and handling stolen goods.
The men were accused of taking a 9mm Reck Miami pistol and silencer to the raid at the Co-Op, in Manchester Road, on September 25 last year.
They were arrested after police swooped on the Mini Cooper they had been travelling in on the store’s car park, where the men were lying in wait for the van.
The sentencing date is yet to be set.
