Rossendale forum launched for migrant workers

A NEW forum to help and protect migrant workers in Rossendale has been launched.

The network will help anyone working directly with migrant workers to tackle the challenges they face accessing services.

Migrant workers will also meet together in separate groups to share their experiences and help each other with housing, jobs" target= "_blank">employment and discrimination issues.

Julie Brons, the migrant community development cfficer for East Lancashire Voluntary Sector Resource Centre, said she wanted employers to get involved in the forum.

She said: “We are wanting employers across Rossendale to get involved in the forum so that we can make sure migrant workers are treated fairly.

“We are also wanting to raise awareness of the fact that there are Eastern European workers in the Borough.

“Unfortunately, the exploitation of migrant workers is happening across the UK and we are keen to make sure that here in Rossendale, people’s needs are met.”

Catherine Taylor, area manager with Rossendale Council’s communities team said "The Migrant Workers Forum is a new group we are developing in partnership with Improving Reach Project and other stakeholders, to provide support and help for migrant workers in our community.

“By working together, the aim of the forum is to help migrant workers access information and practical help.

Julie added: “The forum will now look to put pressure on the local strategic partnerships to make any changes that are needed for migrant workers.”

Anyone wanting more information are asked to contact the volunteer’s centre in Yorkshire Street, Burnley, on 01282 433740.

Who will stand up for British workers? seems that the job has been left to the BNP as every other group has lots of organisations to stand up for them. How many more migrant workers do we need when people are losing their jobs every day?

WHY? Why do we need another forum this time to help migrant workers when there are British workers on the dole. I do not sup[port the extremities of the BNP but I truely hope they gain in strength and punnish the idiots who come up with these ridiculous money wasting and insulting ideas. I hope you get what you deserve and join the dole queue.

Which 'extremities' are you referring to?
The banning of ritual slaughter?
Maybe the banning of religious circumcision upon minors?
Or perhaps the fact that ALL citizens will have to contribute in order to access the benefits of living in Britain?
Possibly you disagree with deporting illegal immigrants? The law clearly states that we should carry this out now...BNP would abide by this law.
