A CARE home has been praised by a health watchdog.
Ashlands Nursing Home, in Turnpike, Newchurch, was given the top marks for its 'outstanding' leadership.
It was also rated ‘good’ in all other areas, which was also its overall score during a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.
Inspectors were told by residents that staff were ‘kind and caring.’
The Rossendale care home provides accommodation, nursing care and personal care in single and shared rooms for up to 19 people.
People also told CQC inspectors they felt safe when staff supported them.
Comments included: “Staff are always there for you, checking things, like when we get up, when you’re at the toilet, and if you feel safe in yourself as well.”
Relatives told inspectors their family members received safe care.
One relative said: “My relative is looked after better here than at the previous nursing home.”
Manager Melissa O’Rourke said: “It is a very gruelling time and no stone is left unturned.
“We received very positive feedback. It is a very hard standard to achieve and we are the first in the Valley to achieve it and one of few in the country.
“We may not have achieved an overall outstanding score but to achieve it in one area is an achievement in itself."
