SAILING clubs across the county have invited people to 'get active' out of water.

A sailing event - RYA Push the Boat Out - is returning in Lancashire next month and will include free sailing and windsurfing taster sessions.

New research by the RYA shows that a quarter of people have never tried an outdoor pursuit, yet two in four want to be more active.

Adam McGovern, North West Regional Development Officer for the RYA, said: "So many people still don’t realise how easy it can be to get into sailing and windsurfing, and that you don’t even need to own a boat or board as clubs and centres have ones you can borrow or hire."

All venues advise visitors to wear clothes and footwear and to bring a towel and a change of clothes. All kit and safety equipment is provided.

East Lancashire Sailing Club will hold a taster event in Reservoir Side, Rishton, from 12.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday. May 19.

Rossendale Valley Sailing Club will offer both sailing and windsurfing tasters at Clow Bridge in Burnley from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, May 12.
