THE search is on to trace a brave passer-by who tried to help a man who was being robbed.

Police are appealing for him to come forward as they believe he may hold vital information about the incident.

The incident happened on Wednesday, March 28 at about 3.30pm.

It saw the victim approached by two men and a woman on secluded steps between Rockcliffe Road and Rochdale Road, Bacup.

He was pushed to the floor where he was kicked and punched by the men while the woman emptied his pockets.

They took £20 cash and some tobacco.

One of the male attackers was wearing a light blue bomber jacket and had a bandage on his right hand.

During the robbery, the passer-by tried to intervene, but was also threatened by the group.

Det Con Katrina Scott, of Burnley CID, said: “The victim described a white man with a bald head who tried to help him.

“We would like to speak to this man as he may hold vital information about this incident.

“We would ask him, or any other witness, to come forward to help us with our inquiries.”
