A COMMUNITY group has helped people with learning disabilities slide into a new and adventurous hobby.

The Spring Into Sport group, based in Accrington, took around 16 guests for a trip to Ski Rossendale in Haslingden to try out ‘tubing’.

Participants, who were aged from 11 to 40, jumped in an inner tube to ride down the Haslingden Old Road centre’s 200 metre slope.

The inclusive group is open to all but most of those who attended have learning disabilities.

Director Lucy Hamlin said: “They had a really good time, it was really fun.

“It was just something different, people don’t normally get the chance to do something like that.

“The kids said they wanted to try out some adventurous activities.

“We like to try and get the out to activities in the area as well, so if they enjoy it they can take it up as a new hobby.”

The group meets fortnightly at New Era in Accrington. To get involved call 01254 457026.
