A HOST of activities from solving crimes to plate spinning, decorating buns to trampolining were enjoyed by more than 200 Year 6 pupils on a high school taster day.
Fearns Community Sports College, Stacksteads, opened its doors to pupils from 11 different primary schools and gave them a chance to experience life in ‘big school’.
In science they burnt different snacks in a Bunsen burner and measured the amount of heat given off to see what would be healthy to put in their lunchboxes.
In PE they got to play football and the trampolines in the competition-size movement hall proved as popular as ever.
Thorn Primary School pupil Crystal Kilburn, 10, said: “I love baking and I enjoyed decorating cakes.”
The maths challenge saw pupils set a tricky challenge of making pictures to an exact size for a record album, but first they had to decide how to spend £5 in order to buy the equipment to carry out the task.
Prefects from Fearns were on hand to escort the Year 6s and help them to carry out the tasks.
