A 66-YEAR-OLD woman suffered a multiple fracture of her wrist after being pushed over by her son.

Blackburn magistrates the mother had intervened when Elton Pal Waring became aggressive and abusive towards other members of his family.

Waring, 43, of Manchester Road, Haslingden, pleaded guilty to wounding Dorothy Bennett causing her grievous bodily harm.

He was sent on bail to Burnley Crow Court to be sentenced on November 20.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Mrs Bennett had gone to an address in Haslingden were her son lived with his partner and their two children.

"He was being abusive and his mum attempted to calm the situation," said Miss Allan. "He responded by pushing her to the floor and she immediately felt immense pain in her wrist. She went to hospital and has been put in a cast for six weeks before the injury can be re-assessed. It came to light that she has brittle bone disease and it may not heal properly."

Aftab Bakhat, defending, said the sentencing guidelines were clear and his client accepted he would have to go to the crown court to be sentenced.
