DETAILS of Jeremy Corbyn’s visit to Pendle have been released.
The Labour leader will address a public rally from The Bandstand in Victoria Park, Nelson at 4.30pm on Thursday August 17.
The visit forms part of his whistle-stop tour of marginal seats across the country this summer.
Mr Corbyn is also scheduled visit Rossendale on the same day.
The following day Mr Corbyn will head to Southport and Morecambe to complete his two-day trip to Lancashire.
Russell Tennant, chairman of Pendle Constituency Labour Party, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jeremy to Pendle.
“He is somebody who has inspired so many people to make their voices heard and to stand up for the values that will lead to a better society”.
There will be additional car parking for the event available at Carr Road fairground site.
It will be Mr Corbyn’s third visit to East Lancashire since being elected leader of the opposition after attending Burnley’s May Day rally in 2016 and visiting Blackburn in October that year.
Pendle and Rossendale and Darwen are key Tory-held seats that Labour must win at the next General Election to form a government.
They are currently held by Conservative Whip Andrew Stephenson and Northern Power House minister Jake Berry respectively.
Nelson East county councillor Azhar Ali, Labour candidate in Pendle in 2015 and opposition group leader on Lancashire County Council, said: “We are delighted Jeremy is coming back to East Lancashire.”
He added: “Unlike Prime Minister Theresa May he will be out and about on the streets talking to real people.”
