A NEWLY-REFURBISHED gastropub in Rossendale raised nearly £900 for charity on its launch night by asking diners for a donation rather than paying the bill.

The Coach at Edenfield, in Market Street, took inspiration from TV’s ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ by requesting feedback on each individual course, including how much invitees would expect to pay for the evening’s three-course meal.

At the end of the night, they were given the opportunity to choose to pay for their meal, with all proceeds donated to The Edenfield Memorial Garden.

The event raised £880 on the night, and new managers Grahame Albinson and partner Karen said they were looking forward to presenting the cheque to the charity.

The Coach, formerly known as the Coach & Horses pub, is hoping to become a local hotspot, with the introduction of new cask ales, a gin menu and new food options.
