PEOPLE who have been breaking into the former Rawtenstall Town Hall have been warned they are putting their lives at risk.

The call came after a group of teenagers broke into the building and set fire to it at the weekend.

The police investigation is still on-going.

A spokesman for Barnfield said: “We will be inspecting the building following on from the incident and small fire at the former Rawtenstall Town Hall extension building over the weekend.

“There have been a number of recent incidents involving youths breaching the security fence and entering the building.

“We would support the police’s call for parents to know where their children are and make sure they are not involved in such incidents.

“This site is extremely dangerous and people going in then throwing items out of the windows are putting their lives and those of others at risk.”

A spokesman for Rossendale Council said: “The contractor is on site inspecting the damage. We would like to reiterate again, this site is extremely unsafe.

“Please don’t enter it. You are putting your life and others at risk as well as trespassing on private property.”
