AN 18-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist suffered a serious head injury after colliding with a parked car in Stacksteads.

The teenager, from Bacup was also carrying a passenger when the accident happened at around 6.30am on Saturday.

Police said the teen, who also suffered serious injuries to his chest and collar bone, was riding a Honda 125cc motorcycle along Booth Road from Bacup towards Rawtenstall at the time of the incident.

The motorcycle collided with a parked Vauxhall Astra before hitting a front stone wall which belonged to an adjacent row of terraced houses.

Officers said both the rider and the passenger fell from the motorcycle on to the pavement.

The passenger, also aged 18 and from Bacup, sustained a laceration to his head and a broken wrist.

Both men were taken to Royal Preston Hospital where they remain and are recovering from their injuries, police said. 

Officers are now trying to trace anyone who witnessed the accident.

Sgt Tracey Ward, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “This accident left two young men with serious injuries and we are trying to establish exactly how it came to occur.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and would urge any witnesses to get in touch with us.”
