One householder has also reported that a property in Thorburn Drive had an intruder, who opened a kitchen door but was disturbed and fled.
Later, it was found that the sneak thief had got away with a purse and £25 in cash.
A Rossendale Police spokesman said: “We want to know if people have seen or heard anything that may assist us in tracing the offender, who is clearly active in the area at this present time.
“Has someone been in your garden or have you noticed anything unusual?
“We would like to remind our residents to keep doors locked and sheds secure to make life as difficult as possible for criminals.”
People are being asked to contact the office on 01706 237367.
