JUST when you thought there couldn’t possibly be another culinary celebration, Ramsbottom comes up with a slice of ‘pie-fection’.

But hundreds turning out for the Ramsbottom Pie Festival, in the Church Gardens outside St Paul’s, were united in their praise for all things pastry.

Chefs from the Shuttleworth pub also had a Bowland steak and root vegetable alternative, and Dean had everything from a mild green curry to a tongue-tingling ‘devil’s chicken’ offering.

Stalls representing everyone from Bolton-based chain Greenhalgh’s to Ramsbottom’s own Park Farm, home to the whinberry pie, and Bridge Street butcher Walmsley’s, also crowded around for people’s attention.

Margaret Lees, of the family-run Park Farm, said: “The festival was fantastic. Ramsbottom is our home town and it was great to see the turnout.”

Junior and adult bake-offs were held, as well as a Man (or Woman) versus Pie competition.
