POLICE in Rossendale have issued an appeal after a pensioner’s home was targeted by a doorstep conman.

A man with a Manchester accent called on the senior citizen at a property in Queensway, Newchurch, on Wednesday afternoon.

After asking the OAP if he could use the bathroom, the man then stole an undisclosed amount of money from other rooms inside the house.

He is said to be white, aged between 30 and 40, with fair hair, and was of medium height and build.

A Rossendale Police spokesman said: “Please advise elderly friends or family against allowing strangers into their home.”
