A ROSSENDALE hair salon proved it’s a cut above the competition by snagging a shortlist spot in a top national competition.

Tufties Hair and Beauty in Rawtenstall was plucked out as one of six finalists in the prestigious Salon of the Year category at the British Hairdressing Business Awards.

Staff from the salon, based at the Rams Head in Newchurch Road, enjoyed a glittering evening out at London’s swanky Royal Lancaster Hotel to celebrate their achievement.

The awards, organised by Hairdressing Journal, are the biggest in the UK and have been running for 20 years. Judges include some of the top names in the industry, who comb through countless entries from across the UK.

Tufties director Victoria Jones said: “Just to make the final six is a major achievement particularly when you consider the salons we were competing against.

“The other finalists include two previous winners of this award as well as celebrity hairdresser Trevor Sorbie’s salon in Covent Garden.

“We had a great time and will be back next year stronger and aiming to claim the title.”

Victoria established the business 15 years ago and the salon moved from Ormerod Street to the Rams Head in February 2014.

She added: “We are really trying to put hairdressing and beauty on the map in Rossendale and build a destination salon the area can be as proud of, as I and all my team are.

“So reaching the final is another great step forward towards that.

“It is a fantastic vindication of what we do.”
