A PET dog is fighting for its life after falling 'between 80 and 100 feet' down a rockface earlier this afternoon.
Fifteen volunteers from the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were called to Lee Quarry in Bacup at around 1pm.
Deputy team leader Graham Dalley said: "We've just rescued a dog called Wilson and taken it to the vets with serious internal injuries.
"It had fallen between 80 and 100 feet onto hard rock."
The dog, a black terrier believed to be around two years old, was taken to Shuttleworth Veterinary Group in Bacup for urgent treatment.
It was expected to be taken to another vets in Bury for further treatment and observation, Mr Dalley added.
He said: "The owner was taking her dog for a walk when it fell. She called police and the police called us."
Update: The mountain rescue team issued an update on Wilson's condition at around 4.25pm.
It read: "Wilson the terrier is still alive. However, he is in a very poorly condition.
"He was examined by Shuttleworth Veterinary Group in Bacup, who have stated that Wilson should recover.
"Wilson has been transferred to a different vets for overnight observations, so fingers crossed he may make it."
