A HOUSING scheme which could transform a vacant Rossendale school into 28 homes is expected to be given the go-ahead.
Rossendale Council planning officers have recommended the project at Waterfoot Country Primary School for approval.

Waterfoot Investments Ltd want to turn the site into 22 flats and six homes.
Councillors on the development control committee will have the final vote on the matter at a meeting in Bacup on June 16.
The main buildings date back to the 1893, but the school closed in January 2012 when it moved to a more modern site in nearby Wolfenden Green.
A previous proposal to develop the site was rejected by councillors last year because of an inadequate flood risk assessment and a lack of affordable properties.
Approval would be subject to conditions, including £33,467 towards off-site play areas, £24,059 towards primary school places and £2,800 towards bin provision.
