A PENSIONER remains in a serious condition in hospital following a collision in Haslingden on Friday.

The 76-year-old woman was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital after her car collided with a lamppost and overturned in Blackburn Road.

The emergency services were called to the scene after receiving reports of the incident involving the silver Renault Clio which was travelling towards Bury Road.

The road was closed for around two and a half hours while an investigation was carried out.

PS Sean Cunningham of the road policing unit said: “I’d like to thank those who have already helped us with our enquiries and I am keen to speak to anyone else who may have witnessed what happened so that we can establish exactly how this collision came to occur.”
