A BACUP man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a 25-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in the Rossendale town last month.
Jonathan Wrigley, 34, of Todmorden Road, accused of the attempted murder of Jamie Mulcahy, was sent for trial to Preston Crown Court and remanded in custody until December 22 by Blackburn magistrates.

The brief hearing also saw Curtis Munro, 21, of Queens Park Road, Heywood, charged with assisting an offender. He was also sent for trial and remanded in custody until the same date.
The charges arise out of an incident in the Yorkshire Street area of Bacup on November 22, which was said to involve up to 20 men. One Bacup man is on bail until December 9, after being quizzed in relation to a wounding offence.
Four other people, arrested as a result of the same incident, were released without charge and Mr Mulcahy is still being treated in hospital.
