AN UNSEASONAL snow flurry and a regal visit heralded the official arrival of Christmas in Crawshawbooth.

Charity champions at the Masons Arms staged a festive gathering which was kicked into life by the arrival of the Snow Queen in her ice carriage – complete with artificial snow.

Comic Ted Robbins, who lives locally and will be reprising his role as Den Perry in Peter Kay’s stage version of Phoenix Nights, was on hand to switch on the village illuminations.

Market stalls, a hog roast, face painting, a nativity farm and brass band were on offer laid on by organisers.

A raffle and auction were held with the proceeds from the day split between the British Heart Foundation and a charity supporting sufferers of Edwards’ Syndrome sufferers., a rare genetic condition.
