AN angry young man who bust an acquaintance's nose has been given his last chance, despite a seven year record for violence at just 20 years old.

Burnley Magistrates' Court heard how Scott Andrew Roscoe, ran off after headbutting James Loughlin, who had already had blows rained on him by another man in the trouble in Rawtenstall, on July 2.

The victim was to tell police Roscoe 'came out of nowhere' and injured him, which left 'blood everywhere.'

The court was told Roscoe, who had grown up in the care system, had an extensive criminal record and had had intervention from both the youth offending team and the probation service, but had carried on being violent. He had never been locked up.

His solicitor told how Roscoe was now an apprentice joiner and was 'a lot less angry' then he used to be.

The defendant was spared immediate custody, but was told by District Judge James Clarke :" This is, beyond doubt, your last chance. With your record, you are very lucky to be walking out of this court."

Roscoe, of Schofield Road, Rawtenstall, admitted assault by beating.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, with supervision and the Resolve programme.

The defendant was ordered to pay £250 compensation, £50 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
