A 54-YEAR-old man has gone missing from a nursing home without his medication.

Police are growing increasingly concerned for Arthur Thompson who left Heightside House Nursing Home, Rawtenstall, at about 10.30am on Thursday.

He was last seen sitting on a bench near a bus stop opposite the Red Lion pub in Newchurch Road, near to his home.

Mr Thompson suffers from schizophrenia and it is unknown whether he travelled on a bus, but police believe it is likely he stayed on foot in the area.

Staff at the nursing home said he probably had his bus pass and some cash with him.

Sgt Steve Rides, of Burnley Police, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned about the whereabouts of Mr Thompson.

“He suffers from schizophrenia and it is believed that he has not got his medication with him.

“He may appear disorientated and may be talking to himself.

“I would urge anyone who sees him not to approach him, but to contact police as soon as possible.”

Mr Thompson is white, 6ft 2ins tall and slim , with short, straight, grey receding hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black trousers and a beige coat.

He is known to walk with a prominent stoop to the right.
