FRIENDS and family of Sameer Vohra, the man who died in a multi-vehicle pile-up on the A59, have been paying tribute to him.

Mr Vohra, 34, of Chorlton Gardens, Blackburn, died after the collision involving three vehicles close to the Myerscough Hotel, Samlesbury, just before 1.30pm on Thursday, March 27.

Born in Ormskirk, Mr Vohra grew up in Blackburn and was well known in the area, where he worked as a car salesman.

Hundreds of mourners attended his funeral at Pleasington Cemetery on Saturday morning.

Mr Vohra, of Chorlton Gardens, had three daughters and a son, aged between three and 10, and was the oldest of three brothers and a sister.

His family paid tribute to him as "a fantastic person".

His brother, who did not want to be named, said: "We have lost someone we really love and we will cherish his memory for the rest of our lives.

"Everyone in the community knew him and he was well-loved and respected."

Sameer was in Jamat with me back in '91 - a joker, and an allround jack-the-lad.

There's no escaping he had his issues over the years, but one thing was for sure - whenever his gaze met someone he was familiar with, a most fantastic beam of a smile shone on his face!

May the Almighty smile on Sameer - ameen!

May we all take heed from this sad and sudden departure!

Of course it's tragic all round, especially for ALL concerned - not just the departed. However, it's right to be objective about incidents like this, there's always innocents involved too. Let's hope the same support is put into learning the lessons here (whatever they may be) to lessen the chances of this happening in the future. If, as seems to be suggested, it is from dangerous driving, a sense of collective responsibility and ownership by ALL drivers equal to the grief will hopefully bring a sad, but crucial benefit. RIP

I am not religious and so cannot say any prayers for all of those involved. However, as with any fatality, my thoughts are with those bereaved at this sad time and, of course, those who were injured. However, some of the media reporting of road traffic accidents leaves an awful lot to be desired and this is yet a further example. The comment regarding which vehicle was where upon impact is not attributed to an individual or organisation and, until an inquest is held, is mere speculation. At a time of mourning for families, friends and communities, perhaps a modicum of responsibility from this and other news media is called for. Again, my thoughts are with this young man's family, all who knew him and everyone involved.

Dear All,

first of all please read darood sharif for sameer and all the ummah of our prophet(pbuh) who have passed into the hereafter.
only allah knows why his time came to an end on this earth, but i read all the comments above and mashallah he was a well respected and true friend to a lot of you, and this is a test for you all,not just his family, one cannot imagine thier position but we pray allah gives all his friend and family sabaar at this difficult time. in a recent article i read in an islamic book it stated that death is a gift from allah(swt), it is the time for them to go and live in jannat, something we all hope to do, the only thing we can do is pray that allah(swt) forgives his sins and gives him the highest place in the hereafter.

our thoughts and prayers also go out to all the others affected by this incident.

Sameer was a very good man, he cared for his friends and family, he is many years older than me,am 28 now.. but i have grown up with him living in the same area. many times he has pulled me out of trouble. he is a great loss.. as we can read.. he was respected by many people.. simply because he cared for the people he knew.. race and faith did not matter to him.. SAMEER MAMA I COULDN'T BELIEVE THIS IT WAS A SHOCK TO ME WHEN I HEARD THIS I DIDN'TBELIEVE THIS AT FIRST BUT WHEN MY MUM WENT TO URE MUM'S HOUSE THEN I BELIEVE IT.IT IS A VERY SAD LOSS OF LIFE WHEN URE ONLY 34 AND U HAVEN'T BEEN WITH URE KIDZ FOR A LONG TIME.I KNOW THAT THE KIDZ WILL BE CRYING THAT''i want daddy now''AND THEY KNOW THAT NOBODY CAN BE LIKE YOU.RIP MAMA AND I HOPE ALLAH GRANTS U JANNAT (ameen)AND THANX FOR ALL THE HELP U HAV GIVEN US AND THANX FOR SOLVING ALL OUR PROBLEMS.!!!U WILL BE MISSED BY THE NATHA FAMILY.WE WILL REMEMBER U BY URE LOVELY SMILES AND MAY ALLAH HELP URE FAMILY RECOVER FROM SADNESS AND SORROWS REST IN PEACE SAMEER MAMA(AMEEN)
