POLICE are appealing for information about a man who has gone missing from a secure unit in Langho.

Stephen Hibbs, 54, disappeared from low security accommodation at Kemple View Hospital, Langho, on Thursday evening.

Police said that Mr Hibbs suffers from a personality disorder which may result in him possibly wearing female clothing.

Due of his condition, police claim the longer Stephen remains away from care, or if he drinks alcohol, the more vulnerable he becomes and the risk to both himself and the public increases.

He is known to have travelled to the Blackpool area and is frequenting the town centre, but police don't know where he is staying.

The public have been advised not to approach him if they see him.

He described as 5ft 4in' tall, small in stature and he shuffles when he walks.

He is balding, with grey thinning hair and could possibly be wearing glasses.

He was last seen wearing a short sleeved t-shirt and blue track suit bottoms although it is expected that he may have changed these, possibly to female clothing.

Inspector Nick Williams-Jones said: "I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Stephen over the past couple of days or who knows where he is now to contact police.

"Because of his condition we are getting increasingly concerned for his welfare.

"If anybody sees Stephen we would ask them not to approach him, but to contact their nearest police station immediately."

Anybody with any information should contact police on O845 1253545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This facility is an absolute joke security wise - the 'residents' there are quite simply a danger to any normal person but children in particular and should be kept under much closer supervision.
This waste of oxygen was kept in low security however even the Police say 'don't approach him' -- the place should be shut down.

If the public knew the level of danger posed by some of the 'people' housed there it would cause panic.

Oh yes, this man comes across a REAL THREAT,Green Man!
A cross-dresser who is as tiny as Prince! I could imagine this bloke ripping up the town and hitting on all those big, strong, beefy blokes who frequent the Blackpool boozers!
I bet they are quivering in their boots!
As far as you saying he is a 'waste of space' and a threat to children,I guess you must know him on a personal level then...? If not, don't scare-monger...maybe he has a better dress sense than you when it comes to his choice of female attire...?
Hell hath no fury like a tranny scorned,eh,Green Man...?

A very well thought out argument Hellboy you are obviously quite intelligent - I didn't say HE was a threat to children but a number of the patients there are.
This mans symptoms include dressing as a woman however because of patient confideniality nothing can be disclosed about why he is actually sentenced to Kemple View -- he will not be there for dressing up but for an imprisonable offence and we wont be talking something trivial .

A friend of mine works for this 'secure unit' and its frightening what sort of people are there.
They are habitually violent and often in danger of re offending and yet some are allowed out on their own.
This guy needs catching ASAP he is not simply 'a tranny' Hellboy -- trust me

You think you can catch Keyser Soze? You think a guy like that comes this close to getting caught, and sticks his head out? If he comes up for anything it'll be to get rid of me. After that... my guess is you'll never hear from him again
