A 95-year-old retired sales assistant died after a fall at her home, an inquest heard.

Evelyn Buckley fell at Abbeyfield Care Home, Clitheroe, on January 23, and was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with cuts to her forehead.

She continued to complain of neck pain and in March an x-ray revealed she had a fractured neck.

Her condition deteriorated and she died on May 6.

A post mortem examination gave the cause of death as bronchopneumonia with the attributary causes heart disease and a fracture to her vertebrae.

The inquest was adjourned until August 5.
