A HUSBAND has been cleared of trying to murder his estranged wife in a knife attack at her caravan home.

Allan Murgatroyd, 61, from Barrowford, was also found not guilty of an alternative charge of wounding her with intent to do grievous bodily harm by a Crown Court jury.

But the jury did find him guilty of a lesser offence of unlawfully wounding his former partner Linda at the Todber Caravan Park in Burnley Road, Gisburn.

Murgatroyd has been told he faces a substantial prison sentence when he returns to court next month.
