CONCERNS have been raised in the Ribble Valley over pothole repairs following the big freeze.
In Henthorn Road and Edisford Road, Clitheroe, and the main roundabout in Langho, councillors said repaired sections had ‘disintegrated’.
Speaking at the Clitheroe Town Council meeting Ruth Hargreaves, councillor for the Edisford and Low Moor ward, said: “We have noticed that the potholes were fixed really quickly which we were pleasantly surprised about.
“But then I drove through Langho and I noticed that some of them had already disintegrated and were turning back into potholes.
“We need to ask questions about why this is being allowed to happen.”
County cabinet member for highways, County Coun Keith Young, urged councillors and residents to be patient and stated that council workers were working around the clock in a bid to alleviate the problem.
He said: “It will take us more than three months to fill in all the potholes in the county.
“Our first priority is to make all the roads safe and fill in the holes quickly.
"We are doing standard repairs using standard materials that are used throughout the industry that may not be suitable in the long term but will have to do in emergencies.
“After we have met our short term goal of making things safe then we will go back to any disintegrated potholes and make further repairs to them.”
