CHAMPION entry at the Gisburn Auction Mart's Christmas show and sale of dairy cattle came from a Longridge farmer.
The second calver from Simon Thompson was giving 48 litres and sold for £2,020 to retailer Hector Buckley, Huddersfield.
Heifer rearer, David Graveston, of Bolton-by-Bowland, sold his Canyon-Breeze Allen sired heifer, giving 30 litres, for £2,350 to Colin Middleton, of the Mittondale herd, Whalley.
Chipping farmer H Parkinson and Sons sold two commercial newly calved heifers just a month after dispersing their dairy herd.
They sold for £1,860 and £1,780 to DW Shuttleworth, of Gargrave.
Leading the in-calf section was heifer rearer Peter Smith, Southfield, Burnley, who ended up selling to DW Shuttleworth for £1,600.
Averages for newly-calved heifers were £1,621; newly calved cows £1,370; in-calf heifers £1,183.
