A FAMILY firm offered £1million on a TV show last night said it was still considering the offer.
Chipping chair makers H J Berry and Sons, who have been based in the village since 1840 and employ 85 people, received the offer from business mogul Sir Gerry Robinson, on his new Channel 4 show, Gerry’s Big Decision.
The show visits companies hit by the recession and Sir Gerry must decided whether or not to invest in them.
Sir Gerry made the offer to the firm in return for a 60 per cent share.
A statement from H J Berry said: “We were delighted and flattered to receive an offer of investment from someone of such calibre, who had obviously seen the great passion and potential we have within our unique company.
“However we also have to consider the finer detail and long term consequences of acceptance before the board can make its final decision.”
