THE gardens of a 17th century house in Ribchester were opened up over the weekend to raise money for charities.

Hundreds of people visited the gardens of Dutton Hall in Gallows Lane to view the collection of old fashioned roses in a developing garden with extensive views over the Ribble Valley.

They could also look around the orangery and buy plants at a plant sale.

Organiser and hall owner Catherine Penny said: “The turnout has been very good considering the weather.”
