THREE more schemes at a troubled community project are set to be withdrawn within weeks.
Trinity Community Partnership in the Ribble Valley, which took away its support for the St Mary’s Community Centre, Clitheroe, in December, will axe 16 jobs after bosses admitted financial losses were much worse than originally thought.
Database, which provides computer training in the community, Jigsaw Environmental, an organic food-growing scheme in Gisburn, and Jigsaw Pantry, a cafe and market stall run by people with learning disabilities in Clitheroe, will all have their support withdrawn.
Board member Ian Brown said directors had been trying to get a clear picture of Trinity’s accounts since December, and they had found that the situation was “a lot worse” than previously thought, and the cuts were needed to keep the project afloat.
Fellow trustee Coun Terry Hill added that organisers “deeply regretted” having to turn to redundancies, and paid tribute to the staff’s work.
