AN outbuilding could be converted into a temporary dog-grooming salon.
Applicant Sharon Carol has submitted plans to Ribble Valley Council to transform an existing outbuilding on Moor Edge, Whalley, into a dog-grooming salon for a period of 12 months.
The dog salon, which will be used to establish a client base, will operate 25 hours a week between 9am and 5pm.
The conversion will require the fitting of a stainless steel dog bath and shower and the installation of a freestanding dog-grooming table.
The outbuilding, which has been used for storage purpose, will remain a private residence.
Cllr Terry Hill, who represents the area, said: “I think there are a large number of dogs in Whalley, which are mostly well controlled, so this could be a good new service for dog owners.
“If the owners can make a go of it, particularly if it boosts the local economy.”
Cllr Joyce Holgate, who also represents the area, said: “We already have a couple of places like this in the village, and providing there’s enough customers for it I would say it’s a good idea.
“It’s certainly a different business.
“Moors Lodge is not in the centre of the village.
“It’s more on the outskirts.
“Providing its approved by planning I would welcome it.”
